New Depression and Anxiety Info: The Epidemic of Anti-Depressants

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kari_Joys]Kari Joys There is an epidemic in society today of people who are taking anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications to survive their emotional and psychological pain. Doctors, psychologists, and psychotherapists regularly recommend long-term medication to deal with depression, anxiety, and dysfunctional family issues, usually with the best of intentions, simply because they are not familiar with the emotional healing process. As we begin the twenty-first century, psychology as a whole has reached the point of being able to diagnose a client's problem and recommend appropriate medications, but it hasn't yet agreed on any definitive process for helping clients actually overcome their issues. Therefore many skilled psychotherapists are still recommending psychotropic medication and teaching people coping skills for how to live with what is currently assumed to be their life-long psychological issues, rather than giving their clients the tools they need to overcome those issues. Since information about the emotional healing process has not yet been researched and documented, many clients are not told about the possibility of overcoming their emotional issues and living healthy, functioning lives. I find it very unfortunate that with all the knowledge and skills we have accumulated, many clients in every-day counseling situations are still not given clear direction for how to get from their painful, survival existence to a happy, functioning life. Emotional healing, a natural process, occurs spontaneously when a person feels safe and supported in an open, healing environment. The doors that have been locked in a person's unconscious mind will open naturally and easily when he or she experiences the authentic compassion of an experienced professional. If a professional follows the natural healing process of a client's unconscious mind, that healing process will guide the client back to peace and happiness, much like the natural process of grief. Clients in emotional pain need to hear from compassionate, experienced professionals that with patience and persistence it is absolutely possible to heal emotionally. People suffering pain also need to be given clear guidance and direction about what they can expect to experience on their emotional healing journey. Emotional healing is not always an easy road, but when a person overcomes the pain and creates a happy, fulfilling life, it is extremely rewarding! I am not suggesting, of course, that professionals should never recommend psychotropic medication. Clearly there are times when medication is necessary. I like to think of psychotropic medication as a short-term help for clients who are suicidal or in severe crisis when used along with counseling or psychotherapy, while the client is learning the important skills needed for living without it. The problem with prescribing medication on a long-term basis is that anti-depressants have only been available for the past twenty years and anti-anxiety medications only a few years more. We have not yet had time to research the long-term effect of these medications on our physical health. I believe that although anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications are often a necessary tool to meet short-term psychological needs, taking high doses of medication to numb emotional pain on a long-term basis will never bring a person to that experience of inner peace, joy and fulfillment that they are seeking. Only a holistic approach that includes body, mind, and spirit will accomplish that goal. 2006 Kari Joys Why spend another day feeling anxious and depressed when you can begin this exciting emotional healing journey right now? Even if you grew up in an extremely dysfunctional family, with patience and persistence you could actually overcome a lifetime of negative patterns by following Kari Joys simple 33-day emotional healing journey! Don't Overlook Articles If You Are Running an Online Business

By Allen Taylor You can't run an Internet business without articles. That's a fact. But exactly how should you approach the art of article writing? Well, for starters, you need to understand just what articles can and cannot do for you. They can't turn a bad web site into a good one. They also can't fix design issues, nor can they tap the Blue Rhapsody in top hat and cane. Other than that, they can do a heck of a lot to give your web site credibility and good content. Articles can be acquired a number of ways. You're probably aware of that. You can buy one of those fancy PLR packages that have been circulating the Internet since 1997, or you can pay Charlie $2 per article to spell one syllable words incorrectly and copy-paste information from Wikipedia, or you can pay a professional writer to provide you with unique, one-of-a-kind content. Which method do you think will earn you the most respect online? If you guessed the third method you'd be correct. You'd also be in the minority as far as action steps web site owners go through to obtain unique content - that is, if you actually went through with it yourself. You have to be careful, though. There are plenty of so-called professional writers out there who claim to provide a premium service who can't do much more than Charlie. Some of them work hard. Don't get me wrong. But discriminating business owners look for more than just hard workers. You want someone who understands article writing and search engine optimization techniques. So what do you look for in a writer? First, you should look for writing ability. And history. If a writer doesn't have any offline writing credits, you probably shouldn't hire that writer. He's not really a writer. Secondly, check the references. If a writer can't produce any good references, he's either not a credible writer or he's so new to the profession that he hasn't developed any yet. Do you want to take a chance on that writer? It depends. You might get a good deal on his services, but be sure you look at the quality of his work before you pay for it. Ask for samples, or ask if he'll do your job on spec and pay if you're satisfied. Many writers are willing to work for lower pay when they start out so they can build their portfolios. But if they fees are too low, they might be desparate. You're better off paying Charlie. At least you'll be able to fix his mistakes. The best advice I can give is get the best writer you can for a premium fee. That doesn't necessarily mean the guy who costs the most. It just means the guy with the best credentials for the best fee. You'll have to check around. Allen Taylor is an award-winning journalist, freelance writer and copywriter. Dave Veres Gets Artificial Left Hip

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Nigel_Kerry]Nigel Kerry Dave Veres, a 40 year old former closer, has been out of the baseball scene for two years. He recently had a lot to celebrate when he passed his first test in his mission to become the first Major League pitcher to play baseball with an artificial hip. It has been one year since Veres received the prosthetic hip and when he was on the field, he did not favor his left hip, he fielded a bunt cleanly and covered the first base without any errors two times in an inning. This was all done during an intrasquad game of the Colorado Rockies. People might remember that in the early 1990s, Bo Jackson also played with an artificial hip when he tried to make a comeback from a football injury. However the comeback was unsuccessful. In 1998-99, Veres was Colorado Rockies closer and he played his last Major League game on October 15, 2003 when he was with Chicago and this was for the NL championship series against Florida. In 2004, Veres spent the entire year recovering from a surgery on his right shoulder. However, it was his hip that had been troubling him for 4 years that forced him to retire. He finished his Major League career with 36-35, and averaged 3.44 ERA with 95 saves. He played 10 major league season with Houston, Montreal, Colorado, St Louis and the Cubs. Veres said that he opted for the surgery so that he could chase his three children around the house and when he recovered he spent time playing the city league baseball in Castle Rock, Colorado. It was then he got in touch with the Rockies, who asked him to the camp on a minor league contract. About the writer: Nigel Kerry is an American free lance writer born in

Common Mistakes To Avoid When Playing No Limit Texas Holdem (Tournament Play)

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kevin_Venclauskas]Kevin Venclauskas 1. Early Position Raise: One of the biggest mistakes I see players make is not respecting someone who raises in early position. Remember he has another 8 people after him at the table who he has to fade, so chances are that he is holding a big hand. 2. When you have the nutz and someone betting into you: I was watching a friend of mine play a tournament online and although he made several mistakes that I corrected him on, the biggest mistake he made was pushing someone out of the pot by reraising him on the turn when he should have slow-played thehand. Let me give you the scenario. My friend Mike was dealt 10-hearts and K-hearts. Someone raises preflop and there are 4 callers including Mike. On the flop came K-diamonds, 10-diamonds, K-spades. Yes, he flopped the dead nutz. The first player checks, the second player who was the original preflop raiser bets $100. Next player reraises $100, the third and fourth players fold, lastley its up to Mike. He just called the bet which was the proper play. Next card on the turn was 3-spades, no help to anyone. Original player in first position bets $200, second player calls, and what does Mike do, raises the pot $600 and the other 2 players drop out. You need to ask yourself "What am I trying to accomplish with this bet." What was Mike trying to do, make everyone fold. Number one he has the dead nutz, he already has position so it is imperative to give the other players an opportunity to catch their card. The proper play was to continue letting the player bet into you, then take him off on the river. He might have had 2 diamonds and hit his 3rd diamond on the river and you could have taken all his chips. You want those players to get so committed to the pot that they simply cant lay down their 2 pair or their flush or their set. Remember in no limit poker you can always raise the pot or even go all in on the river so its really quite simple. If your playing NL Holdem and someone is betting into you when you have the dead nutz and are in position, let him continue betting into you and do the raise on the river as to maximize any chance you have at getting most or all of his chips. 3. Protect Your Hand: Dont give players an opportunity to draw out on you, make them pay for it. If your holding top pair and there is flush or straight potential, dont let them get any free cards to draw out on you with. Bet the pot or double the pot as to thin the heard. 4. Thin The Heard: If your holding an adverage hand, say pocket 10s and there have been no preflop bets yet,, go ahead and make a bet, I prefer to triple the pot. You certainly dont want the guy next to you who has King Duece to hit his King on the flop and beat you. Your bet should thin the heard down and will lesson your chances of getting out drawn. 5. Chip Lead: Listen people, if you have the chip lead tighten up a little. There is no sense in getting involved in too many pots. I see it all too often, someone has the chip lead and calls a raise with crap. Then he catches one of his cards and gets committed to the pot and ends up losing 20% of his chip stack to the pocket rockets. You want to hold on to the chip lead, dont play anything but good cards and let the other players on short stack weed themselves out and you will find yourself at the final table. 6. Common Sense: Common sense supercedes all the advice given to me over the years. Use your head for crying out loud. My friend Mike was on the big blind and there were no raises preflop, so he got to see the flop for free. There were 7 people in the hand and the flop comes A-hearts, K-diamonds, -10-diamonds, now Mike was holding crap, 6-7 off suit. Well nobody bets and it comes around to Mike and he triples the pot. It goes around the table and one guy calls, another raises, then another goes all in. Of course Mike folds but common sense tells me with a flop like that everyone got a piece of it, wether its a gut shot straight or 4 to a flush or just top or second pair. My experience has been that usually players discard their low cards and stay in with their big cards or pocket pairs. When a big flop like that comes up common sense tells me when there are 7 other people in the pot that a few if not all of them caught some part of that flop. What a horrible time to try to buy one. Chalk another mullet move up to MIKEY lol. 7. Play like a champion: Try to imagine yourself at the WSOP final table playing for 1.5 million. Then ask yourelf how would Doyle Brunson play the hand. Take your time and you will probably make the right call. Remember skill will only get you so far, you also have to be lucky and not get too many bad beats to snap a big tournament off so dont get discouraged if you made the right play and lost the hand. If you played the hand like Doyle would have played the hand and you get a bad beat, well thats just part of poker so you might as well get used to it now and take it like a champion. 8. SURVIVAL. Your goal of course is to snap the tournament off, but your first priority should be to get into the money. Just use your head and play smart. 9. Study Your Opponents: Study your opponents and make note of their tendencies. For example, if you have a player that calls just about anything, obviously it would not be wise to try to steal a pot against him as he will probably call you with his low pair. Conversly, if you have a player like that and you have a strong hand, bet more than you normally would as you will probably get a call out of him unlike if your playing against a good player that would probably fold his adverage hand. 10. Realize The Amount Of Players Left In The Tournament And Where They Stand In The Money: If your in a tournament that pays the top 9 places and you have 11 people left in the tournament, this may be a good time to steal a couple of pots if your in position. They are trying to get into the money and wont risk their chips unless they have a premium hand. On the other hand, once everyone is in the money, if your going to play a hand make sure it is one where you are willing to risk a large part of your chip stack on. My experience is when it gets down to the money players, you see many people on the short stack going all in so although it may be tempting to play that 9-10 suited, it may not be a hand you want to risk a large amount of chips on. Career Talk - The Dental Practice And What's With All The Smiley Faces?

By Chadder McD. If youre considering a career in the dental field this article is for you. (:-) To begin we'll give a quick overview of dental tasks, then mention some of the specialties you can pursue and finally we'll look at the actions a person in the dental field takes within a typical day of working in other peoples mouths. (:-) A dentist is a specialist who can diagnose, prevent and treat all disorders related to your teeth and gums. Dental care involves the restoration and preservation of your natural teeth, filling cavities, removing rotten teeth if necessary and providing artificial teeth replacement. Some dentists are general practitioners who work with preventative dentistry and use diagnostic procedures, X-rays and instruments to evaluate the condition of your teeth and gums. Dentists perform checkups, take impressions for dentures, fill cavities and fit bridges. They use a variety of dental appliances, hand instruments, and surgical implements to perform their work accurately. Giving anesthetics called numbing or freezing is also done by a dentist or a dental hygienist for those visits that will be quite painful. (:-) The American Dental Association recognizes the following Dental specialties:
1) Oral surgeons
2) Periodontics (related with treating the gums)
3) Prosthodontics (making teeth or dentures)
4) Oral pathologist (treating diseases of the mouth)
5) Endodontics (root canal therapy)
6) Orthodontists (related with structure of teeth)
7) Dental hygienists (work with hygiene of oral cavity)

Dental hygienists work with patients alongside the dentist to perform allot of the routine and simpler tasks. If you go to any dental practice, quite often the first person you'll encounter is a dental hygienist. Make sure you give them a (:-). Dental hygienists are specialists who take care of your teeth, gums and oral cavity. A dental hygienist will clean and polish your teeth using tiny dental tools such as the mirror, tooth scrapper for plaque removal and special toothbrush. They also perform flossing to remove very tiny food particles from your teeth. They'll check your dental cavities by taking x-rays of your teeth. After checking your teeth for cavities, they'll recommend the needed treatment to you and your dentist and may refer to a specialist if necessary. I hope you've enjoyed my smiling dental care article! Maybe you won't pursue the dental field, that's okay with me. Registration Forms: How to Make Them Irresistible with Cancellation Policies

By Bill Flagg Attract unsure registrants to register with an irresistible "no risk" cancellation policy. Make it easier for them to buy now because they always have the option to change their minds later. It takes the pressure off and makes it risk-free for registrants to say "Sign me up!" Be Registrant-Friendly
There are so many events with strict cancellation policies and liability statements that it is refreshing to see an event that is registrant-friendly. Similar to having money-back guarantees, the number of additional registrants attracted by a "no risk" cancellation policy will far outweigh the number of people you may refund. Liability Statements are a... Liability
Liability statements may reduce your risk, but it's at the cost of valuable registrants. By using such statements, a provider may give prospective registrants the impression that the provider often cancels their events. Otherwise, why would the statement be included in the offer? By planting a seed of doubt in the prospects mind, a provider creates uncertainty about whether an event will make it. Restrictive cancellation policies and liability statements cause prospective registrants to postpone their decision until they are absolutely sure of going. This lack of enrollment can play a part in the cancellation of an event. So use a no-risk cancellation policy. Get rid of your liability statements. Enjoy increased attendance at your events. I sincerely hope this article makes your conference and event registration even more successful! Bill Flagg is the President of RegOnline

4 Gambling Mistakes New Poker Players Make

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Scott_Hanksworth]Scott Hanksworth Poker is a game of chance, but there is still a large amount of skill involved when playing. Many new poker players make gambling mistakes that cost them a lot of money and get them out of tournaments. Some novices play free poker online and never win because of terrible gambling techniques. However, by knowing four common gambling mistakes that are made by new players, you can greatly increase your chances of winning games and tournaments. 1. Going all-in too often or in obvious desperation. In many tournaments with play money, some players go all-in the first hand. It may work for a few times, but after a while, someone will call you. In that case, you better hope that you have actually good cards. All-in can be used to get players to fold, but it should really only be used if you have a solid hand and could possibly double your stack. People should bluff very infrequently with an all-in. Going all-in with a bad hand is what many people call bad poker. Sometimes you can get lucky, but the best players bet carefully. 2. Under betting. If you have a good starting hand, dont be afraid to raise pre-flop, or bet high after the flop. If you have a great hand, then slow playing can work very well. However, when you do start placing bets in a no-limit game, they should not be too small. One reason is that you wont end up winning as much money if you bet small. Another reason is that you are giving incentives for many other players to stay in the hand. Therefore, you are giving other players chances to hit a hand that is better than yours. The best players bet just the right amount to get it where only one or two players call. In that case, your odds for winning are a lot better. 3. Over betting. Some players get very excited when they have a good hand. They may go all-in, or lay down outrageous bets. Not only is it a waste of a good hand, but also people can start to read you. If you constantly over bet only when you have something, then people will always fold and you wont win money. However, if you dont have anything, then people will also know because you arent laying down monstrous bets. 4. Finally, it is important to know when to fold. The best poker players are constantly watching other players, and guessing who could have better hands than they have. If someone bets high, and you know you have the best possible hand (which occurs rarely), then you can call. However, you need to know the odds of the other person having a better hand. Additionally, many new poker players call large bets when they dont have anything, they just need a draw card. This is the worst type of gamble. Seldom will a person get that final card they need for a straight or a three-of-a-kind. Knowing the odds is key to playing good poker. New poker players are often very easy targets for experienced players. Many new poker players make gambling mistakes that can be capitalized on. In order to avoid those mistakes, it is important to study the odds in poker, analyze what other players could have, and bet intelligently. If you do that, then you will have a fairly successful poker playing experience. Scott Hanksworth prefers CelebPoker ( http://www.celebpoker.com/ ) to play free poker online. Balancing Quality and Cost-Efficiency in Your Nonprofit Marketing Materials

By Nancy E. Schwartz "How can our nonprofit address appropriate production values and expenditures?" In other words, not what we can afford, but what we can do to make our newsletter look fantastic and be effective but not appear over-the-top? We don't want our donors to question how their money is spent. How do we effectively balance cost-efficiency with quality? Now, thats a very good question. As a matter of fact, it's one I hear frequently from marketing and communications staff members at nonprofits around the country. As marketers, and as consumers, we know that quality matters. It's a fact that print readers enjoy color printing, striking graphics and photographs, and nice paper stock (let's call these components "production values"). Similarly, Internet audiences appreciate websites and e-newsletters that are designed in a unique, color-rich style. However, your communications quest isn't to generate your audiences' enjoyment or appreciation. It's to motivate your audiences to act to give, to join or to register. And it's likely that each campaign or even marketing piece will require you to hone a different production value. I advise you to look beyond design and print production values to the real objectives of print and online communications. Ask yourself the following questions to help you make decisions on production values: Do you aim for audiences to keep a printed piece (as you might with an Annual Report) or read it and toss it? A "keeper" should be produced with higher production values than a throwaway flyer. What do your audiences respond to most? For a nonprofit focused on teens and 20-somethings, sharp web design and lots of (useful) interactivity is a must. For the AARP, print materials are equally, if not more, important. Talk to your audiences to find out what really matters to them. Spend your budget in those places.

Your allocation will also depend on the medium. For websites, usability (ease of use) is much more important than slick design, although an outdated look can discourage potential donors or volunteers. How can you produce quality print and online marketing components, at a somewhat lower cost? It's not all about money. What I think is most important is that a nonprofit marketing piece or site is professionally done.

For example, a clear, recognizable design is more important than four-color printing or a glossy paper stock. You can save more by having a professional graphic designer design one or more templates for your brochures and flyers. Then you and your colleagues can plug in content as needed for a series of flyers or brochures. Will your print or online piece stand alone or be reviewed as one of several communications from various nonprofits and other entities? If you are advertising in a local newspaper or taking a page in a community guide, it is critical that your ad is designed to look at least as (if not more) professional than the other ads in the publication. Otherwise, readers are likely to overlook your promotion. Even worse, an unprofessional look and feel can convey that your nonprofit itself is unprofessional. Online loans have come as a relief for many people who need cash but dont have the time to stand in long lines at banks. People can now apply for loans from the comfort of their homes. Moreover, studies show that a very large number of people who apply for a loan online get the funds they are looking for. Amazingly, there is a comprehensive list of organizations that can provide free or cheap loans for people on the Internet. Searching the web for your loan will give you various options to choose from. This gives you time and ability to compare their rates and make an unbiased decision, without any persuasive agent guiding you into signing a non-profitable deal. Promotional Lanyards

By John Gest The typical promotional lanyard is a length of basic rope, wire, or cloth that is designed to secure a small object. They are often purchased in large quantities and are fairly inexpensive. Many employees wear promotional lanyards around their neck to secure identification badges while on the job. They are typically used to secure small items such as a work badge, key, identification card, eyeglasses, whistle, cell phone, bottle opener, knife, or compass. A lanyard can be worn around the neck, arm, waist or wrist. When worn around the wrist, a lanyard is often referred to as a "wristlet. There are as many lanyard styles available and there are many uses for them. People who like to differentiate themselves from the "norm" can have a lanyard custom printed or personalised. Promotional lanyards are typically made of polyester, nylon, or cotton and are of a flat braid tubing. This style of promotional lanyard available from FT promotions provides ample flat surface area for the placement of names, logos, slogans, or symbols. They specialise in the production and printing of lanyards. Promotional printed lanyards are often imprinted with a logo, slogan, name, or symbol. Employees, students, hospital staff members, seminar attendees, government workers, or military members commonly wear them. A variety of attachment hardware is available to secure important items. Many company employees use lanyards to display identification badges while on the job.
The retractable badge reel is a popular accessory to badge lanyards. The retractable badge reel allows the badge or access card to be displayed, checked, or scanned without the wearer having to remove the lanyard. The retractable badge reel contains a durable cord (or wire) that attaches to the badge or badge holder. The cord length stretches for the card's use and then quickly retracts into the plastic reel for storage. The NEC in Birmingham, Earls Court in London and GMEX at Manchester are more than familiar with exhibitions and events. At the exhibitions, promotional lanyards will be used to good effect as they are brilliant items that can promote company brands with ease. You`ll see many stand organisor`s wearing promotional lanyards themselves and they`ll be plenty more to give away as special treats. Who Are The Hard Money Lenders In The New York Area?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Bill_Darken]Bill Darken Finding hard money lenders is slightly easier in the New York area than in other areas. One of the primary reasons for this is that these lenders typically try to operate in familiar territories and in an area like New York where there is plenty of real estate for consideration. So here lenders will also have many more customers rather than the relatively sparsely populated areas. This naturally creates a greater 'pull' for private individuals to come and do business here. Hard Money lenders are the private individuals and companies who will lend to you to buy a house - for instance, when the other more traditional financial organizations will not. This can be due to a host of reasons which can range from bad credit ratings to the desire to purchase the home in a remote area with which the traditional organizations are not comfortable. A few tips to find Hard Money lenders in the New York area: 1.The phrase Hard Money lending sounds a bit intimidating and you will find that the same thing is known by other names. So instead of looking for Hard Money lenders look for Creative Financing in the New York area or look for Participative Financing while browsing through the web. 2.Go through the classifieds of the local newspapers and there again instead of scanning for Hard Money lenders look at the description more closely. Watch out for words which talk about loan problems, private money, dream home etc. 3.Call up your mortgage broker and ask if they have contacts to private investors or if they are aware of individuals who may know hard lenders. 4.Make full use of brokers in this case. On the web while you may not find a whole lot of Hard Money lenders in the New York area directly, if you do a search you will find that the search results will give you some links to blogs of individual hard lenders. Many of these individuals are not in the business directly but will know people or companies who can often help you. 5.When you are looking for Hard money lenders you may (from time to time)end up getting in touch with a loan predator, these are individuals or companies who make the deal in such a manner that there is a high chance of you defaulting on your payments. You must be wary and ensure you are comfortable with their reputation by seeking the contact numbers of other individuals they have provided loans for in the vicinity of New York and where possible, go and meet them. Another way is by ensuring that the equity you have in your house remains around 50% and in most cases you should be safe. Can I get a loan to buy commercial property in New York? While hard money lenders usually lend for the purchase of a home or a residential property, many firms are now coming up with ways and means with which they can creatively design a loan so that people can buy commercial land or property as well. What are the terms of these loans? Typically the interest rate is higher, around 12% - 18% and the loan is a first mortgage in almost all cases with the balloon payment due after one or two years. These loans are characterized by their high fee and relatively lower loan to value ratio. Apart from the interest rate, there is a fee which can go up to 8% of the loan amount. The hard loan money lenders want to keep their loans safe at all times and for that reason they need to ensure that you have sufficient equity in your house in case of default they can sell and recover their loan. All in all, even at the risk of stating the obvious, hard money lenders should be your last resort but they are not loan sharks and can be used to get away from a tricky situation if you assess your requirements and your financial position correctly. What Do Women Look For In Men?

By Michael Douglas Women are very finicky about their men. They know exactly what they want in a man and they have a one-track mind when it comes to finding that in any potential partner. This has given birth to a mating game that men don't always understand. So, they should play the game cautiously! Men should try to understand how women think. They have to hack into their brains and do this, so that they can seduce women effectively. The fact is that men think that they have the "tool" to intoxicate women, a bulging tumescent tool, but women often don't see things the same way! It's not that men can't turn a woman on, but these are the rare cases - perhaps two per cent of all cases. But these odds just aren't good enough for men, are they? So, they should try to get into the minds of women and understand them so that they can hit the jackpot more often and have an exciting and exuberant sex life. But men have to be patient and understanding first! It cannot be denied that the position of women has changed in the modern world. Today, they are prominent in every field, have achieved financial independence to a large extent and are bold and vocal. They feel that they have the right to demand sexual satisfaction and marital happiness on their own terms. So, they have their own fix on how far they can go in every matter. Today, women choose their men carefully and decide whom they want to have sex with. As a result, men who ruled the roost earlier, have to face the humiliation of being rejected and having their overtures refused. For hundreds of years, men have done the choosing and they have generally gone by cup-size rather than IQ. Now, women want to play by the same rules. Both men and women have physical and behavioural turn-ons as far as the other sex is concerned. If one man is turned on by the cup-size of a woman, a woman might find herself turned on by a man's well-developed shoulders. Or if a man is turned on by bold behaviour, a woman might be turned on by sensitivity in a man. These turn-ons indicate that extreme pleasure can result from intercourse. Intellectuals often say that the aim of sex is not always pleasure. It is the propagation of the species, they say. But arguments are mere sophistry. Sex is for pleasure, but nature has also helped in the matter of selective propagation of the fittest and best. Women are interested in sexually attractive males for the pleasure they know they will get from intercourse with them. But attractive looks are also very important for them and a strong, sexually attractive body almost always goes with health and a strong, immune system. WHAT TURNS ON WOMEN Again, since wealth and status are also big turn-ons for women, this means that the offspring of such unions will have money invested in them and their chances of surviving and reproducing are very good. In earlier times, childbirth was dangerous and often resulted in the death of the baby, the mother or both. Health and beauty generally went together and attracted males and the babies born of such unions were usually healthy and they survived. But men believe that women do not understand this and that they often couple with the wrong men. Cathy, for instance, thinks that looks are not all that important in a man. Her man need not have the looks of a model, she says. Speaking for all women, she says that women are often attracted to a man who has a single good feature that they think is important. That feature is often a sexy gait. So, men will have to learn to walk in a sexy manner to give the fit-to-reproduce signal. That might be easy, but what about other signals? How much are these signals under their control and how can they project them? Women have it easier because the signals men give are less complicated and are easy to understand. Men are attracted by lusciously sexy looks. This is a signal that women can easily understand. This is why women are so looks conscious and why they are constantly trying to make themselves look more beautiful. They use everything that they think could help them, everything from lipsticks to corsets. This is why women's magazines are so full of beauty features and ads for cosmetics. There is no use scoffing at this because all these things help a woman to attract men. Make no mistake, all this works! Let a woman who wants to be more attractive to men, wear a pushup bra and see what a difference that makes to her social life! A woman wants the man she loves to feel that she is hot. But today, a woman who uses her wiles on men is often called a bimbo. Men are very conscious about their physiques and feel that they are sending out the correct signals when they firm up their muscles. They can do this with bicycling, walking or by investing more money and time in it, through martial art. But they need not overdo this muscles business. Women aren't all that turned on by muscles. In fact, most intelligent women don't go for the musclebound weightlifter look. Yes, women like to see well-toned arm, shoulder and chest muscles in their men, because then they can wear snug-fitting short-sleeved shirts and tank tops, which are the closest equivalents of a woman's cleavage! But Cathy has a word of warning. Men shouldn't overdo the muscles-and-tight-shirt thing because of the danger of giving the impression that they are gay. Once a man has a reasonable amount of muscles, he should just wear a simple T-shirt. This will be very effective, provided that it fits him snugly and is clean. Amy has more to say on this business of cleanliness. She says that men should wash their hair and brush their teeth regularly. Women rejoice in their own long and shining hair. So, they are definitely turned off by greasy hair. Cathy adds that no woman will willingly get into the sack with a man who smells bad. Men should, therefore, be attentive to their breath especially after they have eaten garlic or other strong-smelling foods. MEN SHOULD BE READY Men should brush their teeth often. Sex with a woman doesn't go well if a man's breath is foul. If they don't have time to brush before sex, they should at least use a mouth freshener. Amy adds that women love long hair. Not only do they like to keep their own hair long, they also love long hair in their men. It is an instant turn-on for them. So, men should grow their hair and then wash it often and toss it on their shoulders. Amy's boyfriend's hair is so gorgeous that women come up to him and touch his hair. Wouldn't it be wonderful if your guy too had something that all the other women loved? But not all men can have and maintain such attractive physical assets and, anyway, they consider that these cues to women are less important than other behavioural and status cues. In the past, men worried whether a woman would be able to get pregnant, survive pregnancy and childbirth and give her man many children. Women worried about whether their men would be able and willing to provide for her and her children. As women became freer, they began to think of cheating on their men or conning them into supporting their children so that they could have genetic variety in their offspring. When women began to think like this, they also began to tilt towards seeing physical sexiness as the indicator of health and suitability in a partner. Eric is confused. How can he impress a girl and make her think that he is kind, wealthy, respected and talented, when he is just an ordinary geek? Amy feels that being articulate, speaking correctly and having a good vocabulary is important. Cathy has this suggestion for Eric. She feels that his interest in writing poetry is a definite asset. A woman loves her man reciting original poetry to her. Even if it is not very good poetry, it proves that he loves her and that he has been thinking about her. THE IDEAL MAN Amy says that her husband is very considerate. He regularly opens doors for her. He is not sexist or chauvinistic. She is glad that she does not have to endure the bad-mannered losers she used to date when she was single any longer. Her husband's good manners and generosity have convinced her that pleasant manners and good breeding melt a woman's heart. So, men should sit back and remember all the manners that their mothers taught them! She also says that women love men who are cool. So, men should try to be cool. Cathy says that some women are stupid enough to think that they are more intelligent and sophisticated than women were in the past. Women love men who are interested in music and poetry. They also want their men to be courteous and good listeners. Men should also be articulate, should dress well and should be capable of rising in their professions. If men are all this, women want to display their legs and breasts to them! Women know what they want in their men and, if they don't get what they want, they become disconsolate. So, they should make sure that men understand their signals! Michael Douglas is a relationship expert and writes articles about love, dating and relationships. #36 Rutgers Scarlet Knights Preview

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Matt_Fargo]Matt Fargo Spring practices are in the books and fall camps will be here before you know it so that means getting an early jump on the 2006 NCAA football season. Knowing the teams now will save you time in August and Matt Fargo is here to help you get a grasp of what to expect this upcoming year. We go from worst to first in this 2006 College Football Preview. #36 Rutgers Scarlet Knights 7-5 SU; 5-6 ATS Fargos Take Rutgers had its first winning season since 1992 and went to a bowl game for the first time since 1978 so what can the Scarlet Knights do for an encore? They likely wont be able to contend for the Big East title but back-to-back winning seasons and bowl berths are a pretty good place to start, the latter being something that has never happened in school history. Rutgers was 44th in total offense and 48th in scoring offense, the best since 1993 and should be even better this season despite losing its starting quarterback. Head coach Greg Schiano took over the defensive coordinator duties last year and it was a successful move as the Scarlet Knights allowed over five less ppg and 57 ypg less than what they gave up in 2004. There is a buzz in New Jersey as Rutgers comes into this season with some of the highest expectations ever. Living up to them will determine if last season was a fluke or if it could be here to stay. Returning Starters on Offense 7 Losing Ryan Hart at quarterback could be considered a big blow to the offense but Mike Teel, who actually started three games as a freshman, is expected to step right in. His numbers in those games were ugly and he will be pushed by freshman Jabu Lovelace but there is enough offense around him to make it a smooth transition. Three receivers who caught 32 or more passes are back, led by fullback Brian Leonard who gives the team a lot of options out of the backfield. The best of the bunch could be tight end Clark Harris, an All-Big East selection and preseason All-American candidate. Sophomore tailback Ray Rice had a spectacular freshman year, rushing for 1,120 yards on 5.7 ypc and he will be running behind a very experienced offensive line that is one of the best in the Big East. Returning Starters on Defense 7 The defense was sloppy at times but it was also very good at other times. The unit allowed 45 or more points in three of its final four games while allowing single digits four times throughout the season. The inconsistency is what needs to be taken care of to improve upon its 55th ranking in total defense from a season ago. Seven starters are back and the problem area could be the defensive line, which was the strength in 2005. The return of defensive tackle Eric Foster, who is coming off knee surgery, will be a big factor for success. The linebackers return all intact but depth could be a problem. The secondary was torched last season, including 467 yards in the Insight Bowl against Arizona St., and finished the season ranked 79th against the pass. Three starters return and if the Scarlet Knights can pressure the passer again after finishing second in the country in sacks, there should be progress. Schedule The schedule is not easy but it isnt overly difficult either. The worst of the four non-conference games is at North Carolina in the season opener but then its three straight home games against weaker competition Illinois, Ohio and Howard. Things do get tougher after that with three consecutive road games beginning with the Big East opener at South Florida. After that, its a trip to Navy followed by a contest at Pittsburgh. Three of the final five games are at home but one of those is against Louisville, the favorite to win the conference. The final home game is against Syracuse while the season finale is at West Virginia. Overall, four of the seven Big East games are on the road so making a run at the conference title likely wont be an option. Bye weeks prior to Navy and Louisville are an added benefit. You can bet on It took Schiano five years to lead Rutgers to a winning record and a bowl game but he finally got it done and now it is time to keep that run going. The Scarlet Knights have an excellent shot at returning to the postseason but it might take an upset on the road to reach that goal. After going an astounding 10-1-1 against the number three years ago, Rutgers has put together two straight losing seasons, combining to go 8-12 ATS. The Scarlet Knights have struggled as the favorite over those two years, going just 2-4 ATS when laying points. They are going to be in that role in their first two lined home games and the first will be an interesting scenario. Rutgers will be looking for some revenge against Illinois after blowing a 20-point lead and losing in overtime in the season opener last season.
